Douglas McAllister MP Meets With Greenwheel Electric to Discuss Lomondgate Electric Vehicle Charging And Business Hub

Douglas McAllister MP Meets With Greenwheel Electric As Planning Permission Is Granted For Lomondgate Electric Vehicle Charging And Business Hub

Douglas McAllister, MP for West Dunbartonshire, met with Greenwheel Electric as the company announced it has been granted planning permission by West Dunbartonshire Council for the development of a new Electric Vehicle charging and business hub at Lomondgate.

The West Dunbartonshire MP met with members of the Greenwheel Electric team to discuss how they worked closely with the local community to develop their plans for the site, which include 18 charging bays supplying low-cost, ultra-rapid charging from 100% renewable energy, alongside business-focused office meeting spaces and a local retail outlet, which will support jobs in the area through the introduction of EV infrastructure.

The plans have been developed in partnership with the Strathleven Foundation CIC, which stewards the proceeds from the sale of SRCIC’s land assets in the Lomondgate area. These funds are dedicated to creating a lasting positive impact for the communities of Dumbarton and the Vale of Leven.

Jason McCall, Managing Director of Greenwheel Electric, said:

“We welcome today’s decision, which represents a milestone for our company. Through our close community engagement, we have worked hard to ensure that our plans take into account the needs of the local community. Today’s decision by the Council represents an endorsement of this approach.

“We will now be able to move to the next stage of the project, which will involve drawing up a timescale for the construction of the hub. We will communicate these plans to the local community on our website and social media, as we strive to keep disruption to a minimum and be good neighbours to those living and working near the site.”

Douglas McAllister MP added:

“I was pleased to meet with the team behind Greenwheel Electric today and learn about their plans for an EV charging and business hub at Lomondgate. Their approach to community engagement – including holding a drop-in event nearby for local residents to learn about their plans and give feedback – is particularly welcome. I am looking forward to seeing the plans progress to the next stage of site investigation before construction begins.”

As part of the wider Muirhall Energy group, Greenwheel Electric brings an approach that emphasises both the environmental benefits of its facilities and close community engagement so that its hubs meet the needs of those living and working nearby.
