Greenwheel Electric today announced the launch of Plug-in Local, a best in sector charter designed to ensure the economic and social benefits of its EV charging developments are implemented.
The charter will ensure that new Greenwheel Electric’s charging hubs drive investment in local communities by prioritising opportunities for local supply chains and workers.
Plug-in Local is based around 5 pillars to ensure that Greenwheel Electric’s sites are bringing maximum benefits to the local economy: Local Employment, Local Supply Chain, Local Produce & Retail, Skills & Apprenticeships, and Community Benefit.
Progress on these 5 pillars will be monitored by Greenwheel Electric with contractors and other partners to ensure that every part of the process is benefiting the local community.
The local employment pillar maximises opportunities for residents by advertising jobs locally.
The company is also seeking to maximise the number of locally-sourced workforce hours, helping to increase employment opportunities in the community.
The local supply chain and local produce and retail pillars will ensure that the company and its contractors will source materials, goods, and services from businesses within the local area where possible.
The charter will be implemented for the first time at Greenwheel Electric’s flagship site at Lomondgate in Dumbarton
The site will offer users not just fast and reliable charging but also an array of amenities.
The launch of Plug-in Local highlights Greenwheel Electric’s genuine commitment to maximising the economic, social and environmental value that their projects deliver to the communities in which they operate.
